Does S&A water chiller need to be filled with refrigerant
October 14, 2022
Please allow me to teach you how to judge if a water chiller needs to be filled with refrigerant. The common methods include:
1.The observation method
It indicates the proper amount of refrigerant when moisture condenses on
the high-pressure pipe that touches icy and moisture condenses as well
on the low pressure pipe, which touches cool with the temperature around
3℃ higher than that of the high-pressure pipe. It indicates that the
amount of refrigerant is insufficient and refrigerant filling becomes
necessary if there is no moisture condensing on the low-pressure pipe,
which touches warm. However it indicates the extra amount of refrigerant
and the necessity to let out a certain amount of refrigerant when
moisture condenses on the low-pressure pipe and it takes around one
minute to start the compressor each time. Also the frost formed on the
low-pressure pipe turns into moisture later on.
2.The current method
Detect the operating current of the outdoor unit (including the
compressor and the current of fan) with an ammeter. It indicates the
proper amount of refrigerant if the current value basically conforms to
the rated current marked on the rating plate. But if it`s much lower
than the rated value, it indicates the insufficient amount of
refrigerant and the necessity to fill some.
The gauge pressure method
Water chiller begins to work after the low pressure valve is connected
to the pressure gauge. The gauge pressure drops at the start. But if it
fixes at around 0.49MPa after the running for more than ten minutes, it
indicates the normal operation of the water chiller.
Moreover, the reason for refrigerant filling mainly lies in refrigerant
leakage. If refrigerant leakage occurs, please call the industrial water
chiller manufacturer for repairing welding or refrigerant filling. With
a warranty period of 2 years, S&A industrial water chiller can free
you from any worry.
