Xi'an strives to achieve an output value of 110 billion yuan for the automotive industry in 2015

According to the Xi'an Development and Reform Commission, the Xi'an Municipal Government has now formulated an ambitious automobile development plan and strives to achieve an output value of 110 billion yuan by 2015.

Xi'an's automobile industry infrastructure was originally very weak. At the beginning of the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" period, the city's car output was only 106,000, and the automobile industry output value was only 17 billion yuan. During the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" period, Xi'an Automotive Industry has made great progress. Particularly, Shaanxi Automobile Group Co., Ltd., BYD Auto Co., Ltd., Shaanxi Fast Drive Group Co., Ltd. and other three leading enterprises have developed rapidly.

In 2009, Shaanxi-based industrial enterprises above designated size produced 506,800 vehicles, an increase of 89% year-on-year; among them, 427,700 cars were produced, which increased by 1.2 times. Sedan production accounted for the province’s total automobile output by the end of 2008. 72% increased to 84.4%.

In the face of unprecedented opportunities for development, the Xi'an Development and Reform Commission decided to accelerate the development of the automobile industry cluster, promote the constant optimization and upgrading of the automobile industry, promote the improvement and extension of the industrial chain, and improve the local supporting capabilities and level of the automotive industry, eventually forming heavy trucks, medium trucks, and miniaturization. Vehicles, small cars, engines, transmissions, axles and other industrial chains that have strong support for industrial development; and strive to reach an output value of 60 billion yuan in 2011 by the Xi'an automobile industry, and reach 110 billion yuan by 2015.
