Daimler Automotive shuts down two plants in North America

Daimler Motors AG, the world’s largest truck manufacturer, stated to the outside world on the 14th that due to the severe sales situation, the company will abandon its truck brand Sterling in March of next year and close two factories in North America, and lay off 3,500 employees.

As Daimler's truck sales in the United States dropped by nearly 30% in the first half of the year, the company decided to close factories in Ontario, Canada and Oregon, USA, and cut 2,300 employees from the two factories and 1,200 executive positions related to the restructuring. .

Daimler expects that the cost of the above two companies' reorganization will be around 600 million U.S. dollars, but this will save the company 900 million U.S. dollars annually by 2011.
