Geely was invited to manufacture automotive parts in Belarus

According to recent news, the government is inviting China Geely Holding Group to build a local company to produce automotive parts and components.

At the end of last month, Belarussian Deputy Prime Minister Anatoly Tozik met with Geely executives and proposed that Geely make auto parts after the production of the whole vehicle in the Minsk Industrial Park. Geely vice president Zhang Lin attended the meeting and confirmed that the sales of the joint venture in Belarus was better than expected, and consumers were satisfied with the quality and pricing of the vehicle.

In July last year, Geely formed the joint venture subsidiary Geely (Belarus) Automotive Co., Ltd. with BELAZ, the world’s second-largest mining machinery company in Belarus, and SOYUZ, a joint venture company of Belarusian National Components Corporation.

The project will have a production capacity of 120,000 units. In the first phase, Geely will produce four models of GX7SUV, SC7, SC5 and Panda CROSS. It will use imported parts from China and will further expand production capacity and product lines. The product market will radiate the entire CIS market including Russia and Ukraine.

Geely plans to produce 14,000 cars in Belarus this year.
