Asia ranks first in the commercial vehicle sector, ranking second in the world, only after Mercedes-Benz. Fukuda's nine brands, Auman, Euro V, Omar, M PX, Parker, Legend, Olympus, and Sapu, which are owned by Fukuda so far, have fully bloomed.

Chained Innovation

From the “dark horse” of early light trucks to the leader of today’s commercial vehicle, every step of Futian’s progress has benefited from the company’s relentless pursuit of the concept of independent innovation.

In April 2006, Foton Motors entered into an international strategic alliance with Weichai Power, Germany's BOSCH, and Austria's AVL. Futian Automobile party secretary and general manager Wang Jinyu officially put forward a brand new model of “individual knowledge, link innovation” for the first time in the strategic alliance signing ceremony.

Since then, Futian's "integrated knowledge, innovation and integration" has not stopped. At present, Foton has obtained cooperation with Cummins Inc. in light diesel engines, and the two sides jointly established a joint venture of diesel engines jointly established in Beijing at a ratio of 50:50. According to Wang Jinyu, the joint venture company has obtained a business license and the factory will be completed in August this year, with an annual production capacity of 400,000 units.

The joint venture company will produce a new generation of 2.8-liter and 3.8-liter inline four-cylinder high-pressure direct injection light diesel engines, featuring high starting point, high performance and low emissions, capable of meeting Euro IV and above emission standards and the first in European and American non-highway mobile equipment. To the third stage emission standards, applicable to light trucks, pickups, SUVs, M PV utility vehicles, small construction machinery, off-highway equipment, and power systems. This provided assurance for Futian to enter Japan, South Korea and Europe.

Since 2002, Foton has started negotiations with Mercedes-Benz on commercial vehicles, but it has not yet achieved results. In this regard, Wang Jinyu believes that: "China's cars attract foreign joint ventures, 80% are successful, but commercial vehicles are different, there are few successful cases." Therefore, Futian is very cautious in the cooperation with Mercedes-Benz, is still discussing specific Cooperation model.

Although the sales volume of commercial vehicles in 2007 reached 400,000 units, second only to Mercedes-Benz, Mercedes-Benz’s profit was 2 billion euros, and Foton’s profit was less than 500 million yuan. This gap is exactly the development potential Wang Jinyu is optimistic about. Currently, Futian Commercial Vehicles is sprinting into the high-end market, and cooperation with Mercedes-Benz is undoubtedly of great benefit.

Encounter "car dream"

When visiting the production line, the focus of Futian's promotion to reporters was the M PX Meng Paike brand. After M.P. M. Parker succeeded in the global launch in Spain in April of last year, the figure appeared frequently in various large-scale conferences, and it was not difficult to cover up the intention of Futian's transformation to passenger vehicles. Peng Youlin, professional chief of Public Relations Department of Futian Public Relations, said straightforwardly: “Mopak is our transition from commercial vehicle to passenger vehicle.”

As an independent brand transformed from agricultural vehicles, Foton has always maintained the image of low-end products in the minds of domestic consumers. Wang Jinyu also has a sober understanding: “Before the year 2000, it was used for agricultural purposes. Although it developed rapidly, the negative effects were also great. When we were doing cars after 2000, because the original image was so deeply rooted, everyone thought it was too low and it took a lot of effort to turn it around.”

Most of the world-famous car brands have their own car brands, that is, domestic auto companies are no exception. Wang Jinyu said that since the birth of Foton, this dream has existed. For this reason, Fukuda has put the dream of a family car on the agenda.

“Our goal is to develop the sedan after the first and second commercial vehicle. According to the forecast, once the commercial vehicle is in the first and second position, it will have an annual profit of 3 billion to 4 billion yuan. The money will all be used to accelerate the development of cars.” Wang Jinyu said that by 2010 or so, Futian will not have a technical gap with European and American companies. Expand overseas markets

Futian sold 30,000 vehicles overseas last year, ranking fifth among Chinese automakers. Although research and development branches are distributed in large-scale enterprise groups in China, Japan, Germany, Taiwan and other countries and regions, Futian's overseas markets are still mainly concentrated in Africa and Eastern Europe. At the end of the “Eleventh Five-Year Plan” period, Foton plans to produce more than one million cars annually, of which 20% will be sold to overseas markets. To achieve this goal and open up overseas markets is imminent, Fukuda is also actively making efforts to enter Japan, South Korea and Europe and the United States market.

Wang Jinyu has always emphasized that automobile companies do not have a national level, and there is no provincial, municipal, and village level, only world-class, and only the world-class car companies can survive in the future. Therefore, Foton must sell globally.

In order to increase exports to the markets of Eastern Europe and Russia, at present, Futian is negotiating with a Russian company to establish a plant. By the end of the year, it will complete the establishment and production of a Russian factory. Why is it chosen in Russia? Wang Jinyu explained: “In the consideration of the market, Eastern Europe is currently the most active market for exports. Austrian Bell has achieved sales of 8,000 units in Russia. Auman’s overall network layout has been completed and it has performed well last year. We are the first There is a market and a factory is built."

Wang Jinyu revealed that Foton's plan to build a factory in India is also advancing. The joint venture company with Cummins will become the world's largest engine factory. It is estimated that the annual profit will reach more than 1 billion yuan, and the products will be exported to high-end markets, which will intensify efforts to enter the markets of Japan, South Korea and Europe.
